Miami is a magnificent metropolis with excitement around every corner. You can stroll the shopping districts or enjoy the beaches. It is a diverse city with so much to offer. Beyond the city, you also have a variety of interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. Here are some places we recommend if you are planning a day trip outside of Miami
The Everglades is Florida’s most significant ecosystem. This massive tropical wetland is brimming with life. You can find Florida’s famous American alligators and several endangered species like the West Indies manatee and leatherback sea turtles. Tourists usually traverse the national park in canoes flowing through their water channels and observing the wildlife from afar. A visit can make for a memorable day of nature and learning.
Biscayne National Park is yet another thriving ecosystem preserved by the National Park Service. It is a beautiful combination of clean blue waters, lush green islands, and layers of coral reefs.
The park is home to wildlife in both the water and on land. Those who take their trip on land may encounter some historical sites like the Boca Chita Lighthouse, which dates back to the 1930s.
McKee Botanical Garden offers a showcase for some of Florida’s natural splendor. This non-profit botanical garden is home to numerous subtropical plant species. It is also famous for intricate sculptures that acclaimed artist, Patrick Dougherty, made with woven and bent willow saplings. Strolling around this beautiful garden feels like a fairy tale and is a fantastic place for everyone to visit.
A trip around Naples, Florida, offers a lot to appreciate. You can enjoy a relaxing walk on the beach, but you are still in a city. This city on Keewaydin Island of Southwest Florida is full of culture and amazing seaside views. Visitors can also stop by Naples Grande Hotel for drinks, fine dining, or spa treatments. The city is also famous for its high-end shopping and golf courses.
You have so many places you can visit near Miami. It is a beautiful city with so much action on its own. However, there is a world of attractions just a short trip away when you are in Miami.
