While there is a lot to do in Miami, you also have many places to visit in the surrounding area. If you have some spare time in Miami, we recommend visiting these places on a day trip outside of Miami. Bimini is the closest Bahamas Island to Miami. Visitors can get there by taking a short ferry ride. It is a gorgeous tropical paradise full of tall palm trees and surrounded by clear blue waters. You can spend your time hanging out on the island’s many seafood shacks, and the waters are perfect for snorkeling. The seas of Bihimi hide various secrets, such as dolphins, sharks, and shipwrecks.
Key West is by far the most popular of the Florida Keys. You have so many activities to enjoy here. Visitors can stroll the beaches, swim, snorkel, go shopping, or check out museums. A must-visit upcoming event is the Fantasy Festival, an October celebration featuring vibrant costumes and street parades.
Another worthwhile trip from Miami would be visiting the country’s oldest city, St. Augustine. This place is full of history and culture. You can start by visiting one of their prestigious museums, such as the Lightner Museum. The old architecture of the city is also interesting. Other worthwhile attractions include restaurants, art galleries, and trolley tours.
Florida’s prized natural spaces offer a nice break from the hustle and noise of the big city. Ginnie Springs is notable for its clear and gorgeous river water. It is a popular destination for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The river is also a good site for divers, with many commenting on the marvelous beauty that the waters unfold. You can go to Ginnie Springs on a day trip or enjoy a few days of camping.
Miami is a beautiful place, full of colorful people, history, art, and culture. That said, it is just one place in a larger area with so much to offer. You can find yourself in many different places with just a short trip outside the city.
